Ingredients – 2 cups (260 g) whole wheat flour – ½ cup (65 g) bread flour – 2 ¼ teaspoons instant or rapid-rise yeast, 1 packet – 1 teaspoon salt – 1 cup (240 ml) warm milk, 105-115°F – 3 tablespoon honey, divided – 2 tablespoon vegetable oil – 1 large egg, room temperature – 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Add the whole wheat flour, bread flour, yeast, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer, then stir with a whisk to combine.

Combine the wet ingredients then add them to the dry ingredients.

Mix with a dough hook until soft dough forms. The dough is ready once it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Gently knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Place it in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise until double in size. Rise time can take anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour.

Roll the dough out into a rectangle then roll the rectangle into a log.

Place the dough log in a loaf pan, cover, and let rise until just above the rim of the pan.

Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Brush the top of the bread with melted butter. Cool completely before serving.
